Girona Costa Brava Airport
Girona airport is somewhat optimistically described by Ryanair as being near Barcelona. In fact it is more than an hour away on the route to the French border. This does have some upsides - it is convenient for the attractions in the Dali triangle (a series of sites of interest to fans of the surrealist artist), and is on the way to Andorra and pyrenees resorts. The Costa Brava coastline is also a reasonably popular tourist destination in itself.
Getting there by public transport
Municipal buses run hourly throughout the day to Girona, taking around 25 minutes. The cost at May 2006 was 1.75 euros.
Ryanair buses also run all the way to Barcelona, connecting with Ryanair flights. These take a little over an hour and cost 11 euros one way. The bus stop in Barcelona is at Estacion del Norte (the smaller RENFE station close to the seafront). If you are feeling particularly cheap you could get the bus to Girona and a train from there costing around 8 euros, but this hardly seems worth the effort.
