Manchester Airport

Manchester airport is the biggest airport in Britain outside Europe. Its 3 medium-sized terminals serve scheduled flights to worldwide destinations, charter flights, and a sprinkling of budget flights (particularly those run by Jet 2). The terminals are all linked together by travelator, and you can get between in around 10 minutes in total. All the usual facilities you would expect from a large airport are present.

Getting there by public transport

Manchester Airport station is connected to the airport by a short travelator - it takes around 10 minutes to get to the furthest terminal if you are in a hurry. There are extemely regular trains from the airport to in central Manchester (25 minutes), with some continuing through to Leeds and York (1.5 hours/2 hours, every 30 minutes daytime, every 2 hours throughout the night). There are also a few trains a day going further afield.
